Well today my poor little sweetheart had his 3rd lot of needles. First we went to the clinic to get his 6 month check. He is growing and learning beautifully. He is 8.2kgs, just a smidge under 70cms and his beautiful little head is 44cm round. The mchn checked him all over and gave him the tick of approval! Grace was her usual energetic self, but Rhonda commented that she looked a little pale. I thought that it might have just been because she had a cold, but she thought that she may be anaemic. She suggested that I get her tested next time she is at the Dr. She also asked how much red meat she was eating. We probably have red meat twice, maybe 3 times a week. Silverside once and then mince a few other times. Grace really doesn’t eat much of it though, so we will have to work on that! I really don’t enjoy red meat, so I’ll look into other ways we can all get it!
After the clinic I dropped Grace and Nan off at home, grace had fallen asleep in the car so it was a nice easy transfer into her bed! I met Nicole at the Dr, we were getting the boys jabs together! It was the first time that I had taken 1 of the children by myself, normally Daddy gets to hold them!! I checked with the Dr that it was ok for Xavier to get him even though he had a cold but she said that it should be fine! I don’t know what I was even worried about. My little spunky monkey is such a brave boy. He was smiling and laughing at the nurse, until the first needle went in and he let out a cry. He laughed again, then the 2nd needle went in and he cried again. It was about 5 seconds later that he started laughing with the Nurse. She was so impressed with him (and so was I!!)
Logan was also a good boy. He didn’t cry for the first needle, but screamed for the next 2, but he calmed down easily. Nicole was a little stressed after last time, but in the end she had nothing to worry about! Both our boys are so brave!!
Xavier was fine that night but he came into my bed at about 4am and he seemed really hot. I got Duane to check him, but he didn’t think that he was overly warm. By about 6am I felt that he was getting really hot so I checked his temp. It was 37.5, and he was really grizzly. I gave him some Panadol and he was really cuddly. He cuddles up to Nan on the couch and went to sleep. That tells me that he must have felt miserable….he never falls asleep on anyone! He was warm all day, so I kept up the Panadol. His poor little leg had a big lump where the needle was too, it was all red and hot. Poor little bubba!
Grace said the funniest thing today. We have resorted to giving her bribes if we are shopping and need her to stay on the pram skateboard. Lollipops are it at the moment. She loves them and because they take so long to eat they are the perfect bribe, although they do get very sticky and messy!
We were sitting outside having dinner when Grace starts saying “Lollipop tree” We look over and there are little balls all over it. My sweet little girl thought that she had stumbled on a lollipop tree…..all the lollipops that she could ever pick!!! The gorgeous things that she is coming out with!
